Details Matter:
The Advantage of Accessibility
This 260 page document captures conversations with thirteen individuals, including disabled people, caregivers, physical therapists, architects, engineers, a mobility instructor, and a lawyer. Through detailed interviews and weeks of shadowing, I gained a deeper understanding of their unique perspectives on spatial needs and inclusive design. Each interview has been thoughtfully transcribed and edited for clarity, with big thanks to my husband, Phong Lu, for his help in transcribing audio. This is an ongoing project, with plans to add more voices and insights in the future. Details Matter was created under the guidance of Julia McMorrough, for an independent study project Winter 2024 (UMICH). Portrait illustrations by Arnold Hong.
